In this era of tennis greatness, where only a few players seem to win all of the tournaments, 2019 has been a season of diversity. Twelve tournaments have been played so far in the WTA tour, with 12 different champions being crowned over two months.

Czechs Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova and Belgians Elise Mertens and Alison Van Uytvanck have each earned a trophy apiece. But newer names are getting in on the hardware, like Sofia Kenin in Hobart, Dayana Yastremska in Hua Hin and Yafan Wang in Acapulco.

The diversity isn't just relegated to the WTA as the ATP has also seen nearly 20 different champions already. The 18 tournaments completed thus far have crowned 18 different winners.

Seven ATP champions this season have been first-time title winners.

Despite the streak most likely coming to an end soon, with Indian Wells and Miami around the corner and  top seeds such as Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic looking to pick up their second titles of the season, the diversity trend may be a sign that the tennis landscape is shifting.

Or Roger Federer will go on to win another 100 titles—who knows.
