Crocodiles may be decidedly unapproachable, but Novak Djokovic, dubbed the new croc for Lacoste as its highest-profile tennis ambassador, has been anything but in Paris this year.

He surprised the women's locker room at Roland Garros with bouquets of flowers. Though Djokovic hasn't posted to his own social media about the gesture, Naomi Broady offered cheeky photographic proof:

Broady affectionately beckoned her compatriot Andy Murray to follow suit soon enough. Murray himself has had a fairly cranky French Open experience thus far, seeking to motivate himself with self-flagellating, choice language as he has struggled at times on court.

His rival, Djokovic, has counterbalanced that with a few generally jovial displays:

Often including the toy crocodile he's grown so fond of:

That's not to say that the ATP's Djoker in Chief hasn't had his own trials outside the lines. Perhaps his greatest hurdle thus far has been answering this awkward reporter question:

"Are you going to cry after you kill your victims like a crocodile, or are you going to cry only when you lose like in Rio?"

Djokovic responded with a rather deft, lengthy answer:

"Crying or not crying, I don't think that crying is exposing your vulnerability in a bad way. I think it exposes your vulnerability in a good way. ... We all have emotions. Crying in Rio was definitely one of the toughest moments I had in my career, knowing that I won't have a chance to fight for a medal that I really wanted so much. ... That's all I can say about crying. ... I will not comment on an alligator's slaughtering of his victims or something like that. I just hit a tennis ball!"

The defending champion has got a good spirit, indeed.
