Tennis players typically save their summer vacations for the dead of winter, but Donna Vekic has been able to squeeze in some extra time in island paradise before heading to North America for the US Open swing.

Fresh off her Hopman Cup victory with partner and childhood friend Borna Coric, the world No. 22 has been living it up on the Elaphiti Islands, an archipelago off the coast of Dubrovnik, Croatia, and showing off vistas and beach scenes that may rival the tennis star’s beloved Maldives.

It’s fitting Vekic should spend her free week at home, having just helped Croatia win its first Hopman Cup title since 1996, winning two crucial mixed doubles matches with Coric before blanking Switzerland in the final.

In the midst of a career revival, the 27-year-old began 2023 with a run to her second career Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open, and won her fourth WTA title in Monterrey in a three-set thriller over Caroline Garcia.

Off the court, Vekic continues to grow her business empire, selling a line of DNNA candles in addition to promoting her signature Donna Sport apparel—a womenswear collaboration with Uomo Sport.

What will the former world No. 19 be serving on the North American scene: a nod to the city that never sleeps or a beachier vibe in homage to her mid-season reset?
