The Break: Bouchard's 'Perfect' Man

Will we see Jack Sock and Eugenie Bouchard team up next year in mixed doubles? Maybe, but the possibility won’t come on the tennis court.

On Thursday, the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour announced that Bouchard had signed a contract to compete in 2024.

Last week, Sock wrapped up his final US Open, having confirmed he was officially trading in a racquet for a paddle.

Bouchard recently fell in the second round of US Open qualifying to Dayana Yastremska over three sets on August 24. The defeat marked the fifth straight time the 2014 Wimbledon finalist was unable to punch a ticket into the main draw of a major tournament, with 2020 Roland Garros marking her only appearance across the past four seasons.

Injuries derailed her for a significant amount of that period, with the Canadian sidelined for 17 months between 2021 and 2022 due to a right shoulder injury. The former world No. 5 has posted two-tour level victories this season.

While Bouchard has added pickleball to her 2024 calendar, she’s yet to comment on what this news means for her WTA future. The 29-year-old is currently ranked No. 215.
