Federer wins three year-end ATP awards

Not surprisingly, Roger Federer cleaned up at the awards presentation during the ATP Finals launch party. Taking place at the London Tower on Thursday night, Federer won the Fan Favorite award for the 15th straight year. Bob and Mike Bryan won the doubles version of the award for the 13th time in a row.

Federer also won Comeback Player of the Year after returning from a six-month break to win seven titles in 2017 (including two majors and three ATP Masters 1000s). He's ranked No. 2 in the world behind fellow comeback hero Rafael Nadal.

As if that isn't enough hardware, the 36-year-old Swiss also won the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the seventh year in a row (and 13th overall).

Federer didn't win all of the accolades though as Denis Shapovalov was named Most Improved Player of the Year. The 18-year-old burst into the Top 50 with a final run in Montreal and a quarterfinal showing at the US Open. Shapovalov started the season ranked No. 250.

Indian Wells, Doha and Acapulco won for Best Tournaments of the Year, while Horia Tecau was recognized for his efforts in children’s rights and education in Romania with the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award.

And lastly, Neville Godwin won Coach of the Year, just days after parting ways with Kevin Anderson.
