John Isner and Christopher Bevans during Indian Wells live chat

Front and center on the Village Stage, Christopher Bevans sat alongside ATP world no. 23 John Isner to talk about his latest collection with Fila. The fashion designer is far from his Portland, Oregon park courts, but he's bringing that same energy to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and into the all-new "Bevans Park Collection."

Although this isn't his first time working with the brand that holds a nostalgic place in his heart, it's the first time seeing his designs worn by a few of the world's top players at one of the biggest venues in the sport. He's gone from a kid enamored by the clean, tailored, European-vibe attire to seeing his bold and colorful collection pinned against the dreamy Indian Wells backdrop. Following his conversation with Isner, he made his way over to Fila's tent and shared how monumental this moment is.

"Fila really inspired my love of the sport, the game of tennis," Bevans told Baseline. "I prayed for the opportunity where I could get a chance to collaborate with Fila. For me, Fila was the the fashion brand growing up. The kits were always so clean."

Geometrical designs, pastel blues and vibrant orange and pinks give the collection a high-energy feel that's similar to a park player according to the American designer. He wanted each item from the collaboration to stand out in a fearlessly authentic way, and let's just say he served up quite the ace. It's not easy to use an array of bright hues and make it work without it looking messy or overwhelming on the eyes, but Bevans found the sweet spot.

The sonic waves and color-blocking were inspired by just how much the world has gone through over the last couple of years. It was a challenging time for everyone and Bevans wanted to provide an uplifting and powerful kit that packs the heat.

Bevans says, "the timing when working with Fila, I was praying that COVID would start to evaporate and I was like we have to bring some energy, we got to bring some color, some fun back to our day-to-day lives. And, I wanted the pros to stand out. The surface of Indian Wells, the courts, that backdrop is a beautiful canvas."

It was very important for Bevans that the players felt confident wearing the kit and something that really spoke to them. According to Isner, "if you look good, you play good," and so far he's loving his results while taking the court wearing Bevans' pieces. It means the world to hear it from the Top 25 ATP competitor, and it was an extensive three-year process to reach this golden hour.

From virtual fit sessions to scouring fabric archives—every detail was accounted for. This collection is for everyone of all levels, it doesn't matter if players are underneath the dim lights of a park court or the bright lights casting down on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

"It's about all levels of playing the game and appreciating the game. You have your players that you look up to and admire, and if you can wear the same kit that they're wearing, you're going to step out with a little bit more pop in your step," Bevans explained. "That park life is the essence of the community of the sport."

The extremely electric kit is available online and at the Fila tent all tournament long. Everything from tanks, skirts, dresses, polos, shorts and even jackets can be found, that will leave players inspired to go smash more tennis balls.
