And here are five newish things everyone learned about the California native:

1

He and his wife Abby Dixon welcomed their first child in February, and named him Ford Austin Querrey.

"It's a family name from my wife's side. It's her grandmother's maiden name," Querrey said. "It kind of popped up on our heads a few months before he was born. We both really liked it and we stuck with it."

2

He's bought into not one, but two at-home fitness trends: Peloton and Mirror. "It kind of looks like something fun where you put this mirror up on your wall and there's an instructor in it and you can choose from an array of classes," he said.

And he's also got a one-year-old chocolate labrador to keep him active outside.

"The dog has more energy than any animal I've ever seen in my life and the baby kind of sleeps all day," he said. "They're on opposite schedules, which is funny."

3

After making the 2008 Beijing Olympic team, Querrey has skipped the last two Games and is going to miss Tokyo on purpose. His reason: It's not a priority over domestic tournaments and World TeamTennis.

"I personally don't think tennis should be in the Olympics along with some other sports," he said.

4

While the Samurai Club hasn't been spotted in the stands for many, many years, Querrey is still in touch with its members.

The crew was made up his southern California high school friends, who lined up shirtless to cheer him on, particularly back when Los Angeles had an ATP event.

"One's an attorney, one does medical sales, one is a singer," Querrey said. "They've got normal jobs now so they can't travel around and take their shirts off anymore and cheer—but that was so much fun."

The world No. 45 hopes to keep playing until his son is old enough to watch him "play a relevant tennis match where he can understand what's going on." But at the same time, he's not super eager for Ford to pick up a tennis racquet (though he'd support him if he did).

"I selfishly want to watch and follow a new sport when I'm done," he said. "Baseball, basketball, soccer or join a band."
