To no surprise, Nick Kyrgios has found himself in a whirlwind of fresh controversy for his most recent Tweet. Qantas Airlines recently announced over Twitter that they will resume flights from Sydney to Los Angeles and London starting November 1 and the Aussie shared an interesting response to the news.

"Thanks guys! Australia has been behind for the past year, freedom has nothing to do with COVID," Kyrgios replied to Qantas' Tweet.

The highly critical response over Australia's approach in helping to keep their country safe during the on-going pandemic caused a massive flood from followers, most of them in pure confusion. Last year, Kyrgios shammed others for partying during the pandemic and this comment seemed to be out of left field as he's always shown support for his home country's restrictive measures.

Here's a small sample of GIFs sent by followers to show their exasperation over his comment:

Kyrgios' 2021 has been trending downwards as he's fallen in the first round in his last three events and took a loss in his only singles match at this year's Laver Cup. Five years ago he reached his highest ranking of world No. 13, and now he sits at No. 97 with danger of falling outside the Top 100 this season. However it seems his heart is no longer in the game.

"I don't know how much longer I will be in tennis," Kyrgios told reporters in Boston after falling in straight sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Kyrgios will not compete for the remainder of the 2021 season.
