Sometimes fast hands reap the fastest rewards. In the case of Richard Gasquet in Vienna, he had a brilliant reaction to a full-power shot fired at his chest by Dominic Thiem. Gasquet won the point thanks to his flashy moves, and fought back from a set deficit to win the match, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Thiem was attempting to regain his form in time for the ATP Finals in London. The 24-year-old became the fourth player to qualify for the year-end championships earlier this month.

Despite a strong year and career-high ranking of No. 6, Thiem didn't win a match during the Asian swing (three straight losses). Until this week in front of his home crowd, the Austrian hadn't won an ATP match since the US Open. Now he heads to Paris with just one win (over Andrey Rublev) since September 2.

After a disappointing summer hard-court stretch, Gasquet briefly visited the ATP Challenger tour to win the title in Szczecin, Poland. He's now into his third-straight quarterfinal.
