Gauff, Rubin lead Americans to Wimbledon main draw

CoCo Gauff headlines a crew of Americans from the qualifying in Roehampton to the main draw of Wimbledon. On Thursday, the 15-year-old became the youngest women's qualifier at Wimbledon. Ranked No. 301, she needed a wild card just to compete.

"I'm still in shock that I'm going to be playing main draw Wimbledon,"Gauff said. "I think my first memory was watching Serena playing Wimbledon, and I think she won—I don't remember which year, she's won so many times."

At 13, she reached the junior US Open final. At 14, she won the junior French Open. And now, professional history at 15.

She's joined by Kristie Ahn, who beat two other Americans to earn her spot, Francesca Di Lorenzo and No. 3-seeded Lauren Davis.

Another teenager, 17-year-old Katy McNally also secured her place at Wimbledon with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jana Cepelova. It'll be her Grand Slam main-draw debut.

On the men's side, Marcos Giron and Noah Rubin both emerged victorious on Thursday. It'll be their Wimbledon main-draw debuts too.

Top-seeded Donald Young lost in the final round as did Bjorn Fratangelo, Tommy Paul, Danielle Lao and Christina McHale.
