It's been a long six weeks for Daria Gavrilova. After a long injury layoff followed by the COVID-19 shutdown, the former Top 20-ranked Australian left home for a W80 ITF in France and Roland Garros.

She'd go 5-2 with a run to the quarters of the ITF from the qualifying draw followed by a first-round win in Paris. Then she began her long journey home which require two weeks of a government-mandated quarantine in a hotel.

She and her adjoining room pal Ellen Perez documented the ordeal from start to finish as they spent quality time at the Mercure Perth Hotel.

This week, Gavrilova finally made it to her hometown of Melbourne to reunite with her dog, Tofu. She and Tofu had been tighter than ever during her unexpectedly long stay at home and so the moment was special enough to warrant a video.

The 26-year-old also returned to the court, though in a very unorthodox manner.

Gavrilova is currently ranked No. 445 and will likely continue her comeback in her home country with so many COVID-19 restrictions still firmly in place.
