The major grass court tournament should have started this week. Unlike the French Open, Wimbledon will not be rescheduled for a later date but instead cancelled completely due to the on-going pandemic.

What does this mean for Simona Halep? It means hiking in beautiful Romania will have to replace the All England Lawn Tennis Club this year.

It was just last season that the world No. 2 captured her second Grand Slam title. Halep was a force that could not be stopped throughout the entire tournament, only losing one set in seven matches.

Halep defeated 23-time major champion Serena Williams, 6-2, 6-2, to lift the trophy and capture her second win against the American out of eleven attempts.

Although the coronavirus has pressed pause on the WTA season, the Wimbledon champion is still finding the beauty in the present. The WTA tour has pushed back their projected start date to August 1.
