Novak Djokovic will be seeking his 25th Grand Slam at the US Open, and he’ll be trying to do so without having played a Tour match since losing in the Wimbledon semifinals. Perhaps debuting his new Head Speed Legend Pro racquet will improve his fortunes.

Ahead of the full release of the upcoming Speed 2026 line, Head has launched the new Speed Legend series. The pair of racquets—the Pro and MP—have a sleek all-black, glossy, minimalist cosmetic with gold branding of the company’s and Djokovic’s logos. There’s also forged carbon detailing around the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the hoop. The choice of labeling color was made to pay tribute to Djokovic’s singles gold medal at the Paris Olympics last year.

The Speed series is Head’s most popular. It sits at the center of the brand’s “Tour Racquet Compass” with the most even balance of power, spin, control and touch. The Legend racquets share the same technologies and playability of the upcoming matching models with the traditional Speed cosmetics.

The most notable update to the new range is the addition of Hy-Bor—a composite of boron and carbon fibers commonly used in the aerospace industry—to the shaft of the frame. It’s intended to improve the stability and feel of the racquet. The Hy-Bor is accompanied by the return of Auxetic 2.0 technology, which creates better ball connection and response at contact.

The Speed Legend Pro is designed for advanced players who can take advantage of the frame’s relatively high static weight (310g) and dense string pattern (18x20). It provides an attractive blend of power and control for players who like to attack from all areas of the court with versatility and precision.

The Speed Legend MP suits a broader audience. It is lighter (300g) and has a wider string pattern (16x19), making it more user-friendly. Aggressive baseliners can take advantage of the easy spin and power the racquet generates, while steady counterpunchers will appreciate its predictable response.

Both the Speed Legend Pro ($299) and MP ($289) are currently available at head.com and tennis specialty retailers. Check back in the coming weeks for more detailed reviews.
