Hot shots run rampant on Day 1 of IPTL

Doubles yields a lot of fast hands and faster reactions.

A new season of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) began on Friday with plenty of action and hot shots. The exhibition-style league pits current and former tour stars in fast-paced sets of singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

The first match took place in Saitama, Japan between the Singapore Slammers and UAE Royals.

And the contested yielded this emphatic hot shot from Marcelo Melo.

The second match of the day, also in Saitama, saw the Indian Aces top the Japan Warriors.

With men's doubles providing the shot of the day thanks to Jean-Julien Rojer.

The next matches take place on Saturday. The two-week event is in its third season, though down to only four teams playing in three cities (Saitama, Singapore and Hyderabad).
