Iga Swiatek lands on cover of Elle magazine in Poland for a second time

She's sporty and she's chic: Iga Swiatek is the fitting cover model for the June issue of \Elle \magazine in her native Poland.

"Honestly, it was great because I really had fun," Swiatek said in her Media Day press conferenct at the Internazionli BNL d'Italia. "I would say posing wasn't easy at the beginning. I had a coach onset that kind of showed me what to do. Then it got easy because we're kind of used to repeating movements, even on court. I kind of used that to pose a little bit better.

"At the end it was great. I was, like, doing weird stuff," she added, mimicking some of the high-fashion poses.

The issue seeks to capture the cultural moment that tennis is having, from Zendaya's global blockbuster "Challengers" and her subsequent "method dressing" to promote the film, to Swiatek's historic, global partnership with Lancôme cosmetics—a first for a female athlete— and in that spirit, fans of Swiatek will be able to take home not one, but two, glossy covers featuring the world No. 1 when it hits newsstands this week.

In one, Swiatek models a high-necked black gown, with a striking cutout at the waist and one long sleeve, pulls back her hair and accesorizes with simple, square earrings and gold bangle bracelets. In the other, she swaps black for a bold red dress, a color that the world already knows she can pull off, lets her hair down, and trades her stud earrings for thick hoops.

"I appreciate when I can dress elegant, feel feminine, and attractive," Swiatek tells editor-in-chief Marta Tabiś-Szymanek, as quoted on the magazine's Instagram.

Swiatek had previously been the cover star for the magazine in January of 2022, before she rose to the world No. 1 ranking that March. But now, with the perspective of more than 100 weeks at the WTA rankings behind her, she explains that she was in a much different place, both on and off the court.

"Two years ago, I wanted to prove that I was in a good place, I didn't feel like a fully experienced competitor," she tells Tabiś-Szymanek, "I was learning to face the first wave of success and expectations associated with it. I'm no longer just a tennis player. My role is not as easy as I imagined, dreaming of a career as a 12-year-old."

The now-four-time Grand Slam champion, and recently-crowned Mutua Madrid Open champion, also discusses her Olympic aspirations for Paris this summer as the magazine dubs her "the voice of a generation."

Swiatek's cover shoot wasn't only a hit with fans, who could be found in Elle's Instagram comments dubbing the shoot everything from "perfection" to "extraordinary."

"Absolutely stunning," declared her Polish compatriot Magda Linette, while skier Lindsey Vonn summed things up with a simple: "Wow!"
