Nick Kyrgios is at a 'crossroads' in his career, but that doesn’t mean retirement is ahead

When at the Australian Open, the best thing to do is obviously sit down with Andy Lee for another round of "Guess Whom?" And, yes, he is still dressed like John McEnroe.

This time, Nick Kyrgios, who is currently through to the third round in Melbourne, went back for a second round after playing last year and beating Lee. Once again, Andy is terrible at it as he tries to guess Donald Trump while Kyrgios attempts to guess Brittney Spears. To be fair, Kyrgios also lost, but not quite as quickly.

While the 25-year-old Aussie was calm and collected against Lee, he has been getting into some trouble (again) on and off the court. Last week, Kyrgios was triggered by a time violation during his second-round win against Harry Bourchier at the Murray River Open, berating the chair umpire. Lee actually pokes fun at this incident during their "Guess Whom?" game and Kyrgios takes it really well.

Leading into the Australian Open, Kyrgios leveled barbs at Novak Djokovic after the world No. 1 said Kyrgios is talented, but he doesn't have respect for him off the court. Kyrgios had a response ready.

"I'm, like, it actually would make complete sense to me if he was like, 'Look, I don't respect the guy on the court,' because I understand if he doesn't agree with some of my antics on the court that I have done in the past," Kyrgios said. "He's a very strange cat, Novak is. Heck of a tennis player, but unfortunately someone that's partying with his shirt off during a global pandemic, I don't know if I can take any slack from that man."

Regardless of who's side you're on, both players are impressing on court. On Day 3, Novak Djokovic eased past Frances Tiafoe in four sets, while Kyrgios ousted Ugo Humbert in a five-setter. Kyrgios will next face No. 3-seeded Dominic Thiem and the only way he'll be able to clash with Djokovic on court is in the semifinals.
