Roger Federer continues to make the most of retirement, sharing a day on the slopes with fellow Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn.

Vonn, a 2010 gold medalist in downhill skiing, posted a video of herself alongside the 20-time Grand Slam champion—who officially hung up his racquets during the 2022 Laver Cup—along with a heartfelt caption supporting her longtime friend.

“I finally got to ski with my friend Roger… yes, @rogerfederer!” Vonn wrote on Instagram. “Have to take some time to really reflect on what it this means to me… I have admired Roger as an athlete, philanthropist and incredible champion for so many years. Normally, people you look up to always let you down in one way or another, but not Roger.

“Rog is the epitome of a true sportsman and champion in every sense of the word. We’ve been talking about skiing together for such a long time I wasn’t sure if it would happen…. But here we are; retired, skiing and enjoying life! Thanks for this memory Rog. You and your family are truly one of a kind and no matter what the statistics say (or Leo lol) you’re my forever 🐐, because it’s not about the stats but the impact you have made on me, and I’m just one of millions. Cheers my friend🙏🏻🫶🏻”

Vonn, whose friendship with Federer goes back well over a decade, initially posted the same caption to Twitter/X, but later opted to take it down when it appeared she accidentally incited an impromptu GOAT debate, with fans of Novak Djokovic quick to remind the 2009 World Champion skier that the statistics did, in fact, support their man.

“I didn’t want the negativity of the comments to ruin a great memory,” she added under an amended post.

Ironically enough, Djokovic was also enjoying some winter sports himself this weekend, posting a picture to his Instagram story in between his own pair of skis.

But which tennis player is the GOAT skier? That may be a debate best had offline.
