You know what they say; Look good, play good.

That may not be true in every situation, but it seemed to be the case for Elina Svitolina in her first-round match today at the All England Club.

The No. 3 seed fought through some ups and downs against Alison Van Uytvanck, but she finished on a high note, taking out the Belgian 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. She was outfitted in all Nike, but it certainly was not your average Wimbledon whites. Svitolina has displayed her edgy, unique style off the court, and Wednesday's attire allowed that element of her personality to shine through.

The kit paired together a shirt and a skirt, both emblazoned with the Nike swoosh. The skirt was a mix of classic and eccentric, with a pleated pattern and a mesh texture on one side. The mesh was also included on the top of the shirt, which had small cap sleeves that vaguely resembled 80’s-esque shoulder pads. On the bottom of the shirt, the pattern shifts and the material split for a more contemporary asymmetrical look. Svitolina accessorized with a Nike visor and an emerald necklace from Maximilian London Jewellery House. The necklace has brought her luck on the court before, and it looks like it did the job in her opener.

She will face Magda Linette in the second round come Thursday. Svitolina holds a perfect 2-0 record against the world No. 44 and last defeated her at Strasbourg in 2020.
