It’s safe to say Maria Sharapova is embracing her retirement from the WTA Tour. But the former world No. 1 has been anything but stationary since stepping away from tennis in 2020.

Sharapova has her own charity, is a successful entrepreneur and investor, and cultivates many interests off the court. The Los Angeles resident has maintained a keen sense of adventure, too, and it looks like she’s caught quite the travel bug recently.

With the help of Sharapova’s frequent social media updates, fans can follow along with her escapades. In the past month, she’s been exploring countless countries in Europe, and her Instagram photos look straight off a Pinterest board.

The European expedition appears to have begun in Croatia, based off her timeline of posts. According to Sharapova’s photos, the Balkan country offers stunning waters, historic sightseeing, and incredible architecture. The trip even received approval from Croatian player and friend Donna Vekic. “Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa,” she commented, followed by the heart eye emoji.

Next, Sharapova headed to the English countryside, staying in an enchanting hotel called Heckfield Place. It’s everything one would expect from a summer weekend in Hampshire; gardens, tea, magical meadows…you get the idea. And if you don’t, Sharapova’s photos help to paint a perfect picture.

Sharapova is always one to make time for the arts as well. The architecture buff had to make a pit stop at London’s Kensington Gardens to check out Sumayya Vally’s Serpentine Pavilion, and celebrate the youngest architect to be commissioned with the design to date. From there, Sharapova enjoyed a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, one of London’s most iconic music venues.

As of now, it seems the 34-year-old is in the midst of exploring Scotland. She’s already seen the castles of Ballindalloch and the stunning lakeside views from the Belmond Royal Scotsman train.

Who can say where the five-time major champion will go next? We’ll gladly keep up and live vicariously through her IG feed.
