Mauresmo interviews Murray on FranceTV

Andy Murray was pushed to five sets once again in Paris as his opponent, No. 146-ranked French wildcard Mathias Bourgue captivated the world by nearly sending the No. 2 seed packing. The Scot prevailed, 6-2, 2-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. After the match, he was greeted by a familiar face for an interview with FranceTV Sport:

Amelie Mauresmo and Murray split ways just a few weeks ago on May 9, and rumors over the reasons have been circling ever since. Helping further squash negative rumors, both broke into grins at the first sight of each other:

"First of all, congrats," Mauresmo said. "Massive congrats. That was a great, great effort today." She launched quickly into interviewer mode.

"I want to know how did you turn things around," she said. "Because he was playing like out of his mind."

"I lost a little bit the way to play against him in the second and third set…," Murray said. "I just had to fight, that was it. I’ve played many of these matches over the years at Slams and sometimes it takes just one bad game from your opponent to get your confidence back and to get back into the match. that happened in the fourth set, and the match turned around from there."

"How do you feel physically and mentally because you’ve had to play these last three days," Mauresmo asked next. "How do you feel right now?"

"Tired," Murray said, before launching into a monologue about momentum and his positive thoughts on how he finished the match on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old also needed five sets (over two days) to beat Radek Stepanek in the first round. His path doesn't get any easier as he faces Ivo Karlovic next.
