Medvedev smashes racquet in St. Petersburg loss

Daniil Medvedev was the top seed in St. Petersburg this week and his campaign came to a disappointing end, to say the least. The Russian lost to Reilly Opelka, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 and smashed his racquet upon losing match point on his own serve.

The racquet smash gets a special place in history for lasting from point lost to after the "handshake".

Since reaching the semifinals of the US Open, Medvedev has gone 1-3. Opelka moves on to face Borna Coric in the quarterfinals.
