Birthday girl Mirra Andreeva just turned 18 on Tuesday, and she’s brought the perfect gift from sponsor Nike to celebrate at the Mutua Madrid Open.

All week long, the teen phenom from Russia has been seen taking the court with a custom white tote bag adorned with charms and a splash of art on the side. Along with Nike’s swoosh logo, the colorful design includes the word “MIRRACLE”.

It’s a catchy play on words, referencing both her first name and her ‘miraculous’ rise up the rankings at a young age—a breakthrough that first began right here in Madrid.

Back in 2023, Andreeva exploded onto the scene as a 15-year-old wild card, taking down Leylah Fernandez, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Magda Linette (all in straight sets, no less) before falling to eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka.

Two years later, Andreeva has entrenched herself firmly at the top of women’s tennis and cracked the WTA’s Top 10 in February. She won back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, and has already charged through to the quarterfinals this week in Madrid.

“I think that Mirra 12 months ago was still surprised by how she plays on the court,” she told Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk this week. “She was also surprised with beating top players.

“But I think the Mirra that is here with you today, she can rely more on herself and she trusts herself more on the court. She knows what to expect from herself when she plays each match.”

However, the teenager had a less-than-enthusiastic response when asked about her upcoming birthday:

“Oh nooo,” Andreeva groaned, hiding her face in her hands, “No, I don’t want to be responsible for myself!”

Andreeva, the No. 7 seed, will face No. 4 Coco Gauff in the Madrid quarterfinals. The pair’s first meeting is set to take place on Arantxa Sanchez Stadium on Wednesday—here’s where to watch.
