With players having more free time than ever, they're exploring new hobbies and figuring out their lives beyond the tennis court. Garbine Mugurza recently picked up the pen, or laptop, to write a piece for *Vogue España*

The 26-year-old describes how her tour life came to a screeching halt in Indian Wells almost three months ago, followed by the panic of trying to fly back to her residence in Switzerland.

"I thought that it would be impossible to cancel a competition of such magnitude, but in the end we received the news that we did not want to hear," the world No. 16 wrote.

Soon though, the Spaniard's perspective changed.

"We had snapped out of our pro tennis circuit bubble," she said. "What was coming upon us was much bigger and more serious."

Muguruza headed to Geneva, where she's lucky enough to have a soothing backdrop of lake views, cows and sheep.

The reality of quarantine life set in quickly and unexpectedly.

"I was not prepared, especially for the great emptiness that I felt when I could not do what I know best: play tennis," the two-time Grand Slam champion said, admitting she hadn't stayed in the same city for a month in almost a decade.

Fans have come to realize that Muguruza loves her peace and quiet, as well as her freedom, but she has a strong desire for adventure. Last year, she started tapping into that side of herself by climbing Kilimanjaro.

Now struggling to figure out her identity without tennis, Muguruza turned to writing. She's got plenty of other interests like doing interviews, fashion and design, sewing, teaming up with National Geographic, taking college courses, and becoming a businesswoman.

Her piece truly gives fans a deeper look into her psyche as she, and everyone else, traverses this unprecedented time.
