Naomi Osaka’s tennis career is dotted with major “firsts”—she was the first Asian player to reach the No. 1 ranking in the sport—but even away from the court, the 25-year-old knows how to move the needle.

The Japanese player recently launched her first collection with sponsor Victoria’s Secret, a move that also marked a major first for the world’s largest intimates retailer.

“I was shocked to hear this, but apparently I’m the first person to ever collaborate with Victoria’s Secret on a collection and I’m so humbled and appreciative,” Osaka shared on social media.

“Every piece in the collection is made out of recyclable material and the whole premise of the collection centers around chasing your dreams, so I hope you enjoy everything as much as I do.”

It’s all a part of Victoria’s Secret’s marketing overhaul, as the 45-year-old brand fights to revamp its image and appeal to a younger audience.

In 2021, Osaka joined its newly formed “VS Collective”, alongside the likes of Hayley Bieber, Priyanka Chopra, Eileen Gu, Megan Rapinoe and more. The Collective replaced the brand’s signature “Angels”, a line-up of international "spokesmodels" that has previously included heavyweight names like Gisele Bundchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima.

As its customers increasingly seek comfort and inclusivity, the new Victoria's Secret X Naomi Osaka collection features a mix of casual sleepwear and intimates. The robes, rompers, shorts, sleep shirts, panties and thongs are available in pale pastel pinks, greens and lavenders, and are all made from recyclable materials.

“VS X Naomi Osaka beautifully represents the tranquility and happiness that comes when you take a moment to embrace you—I believe everyone should prioritize self-care,” Osaka said in a statement.

“I am proud to have collaborated with Victoria’s Secret in designing a collection that brings this message to life through dreamlike styles. We had a fully immersive design process together where we thoughtfully chose light, soft fabrics in a calm color palette reflective of sunsets and sunrises.”

Currently on maternity leave expecting her first child with partner Cordae, Osaka celebrated the launch at Harriet’s Rooftop in Los Angeles on Tuesday. According to Just Jared, the event included an energy healing session, a yoga class—complete with a custom VS x NO mat—and ear-seeding acupuncture.
