The world is still getting to know Yoshihito Nishioka despite all he's achieved already: a Top-50 career-high ranking and ATP title in 2018. Fans recently learned, he's very into Pokemon cards, as he was asked to match characters with players on the ATP Tour.
"I don't remember how [many] I have, maybe few thousand or something cards," the Japanese star said.
Here's who he thinks players are most like:
Charizard: Nick Kyrgios for his emotions and strength.
Mewtwo: Daniil Medvedev for his focus and stability.
Gengar: No one because everyone is too nice.
Pikachu: Roger Federer for being lovable and popular.
Greninja: Nishioka for being a ninja, because that's one of his nicknames.
Mew: Kei Nishikori for being small and talented.
Following his first-round defeat at the Australian Open, the world No. 54 managed to capture his first two wins of the season in Singapore, before falling to Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals.
