With his Australian Open wounds still fresh, Daniil Medvedev is taking time to heal from his crushing final loss to the now 21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal. On Friday, he was spotted karting with his friends—who happen to be top F1 drivers including Alex Albon and countryman Daniil Kvyat.

The world No. 2 is a major F1 fan and even made a trip down to Monaco last year to take in the Monte-Carlo Grand Prix action. The Russian posted a few videos of himself suited up on Friday and racing around the track alongside his professional friends.

Is he ready for a career change? "No more tennis! My training for F1 has officially started!!" Medvedev wrote on Twitter.

One meme account created a hilarious announcement graphic of Medvedev joining the Red Bull Racing team. The 2021 US Open champion couldn't allow the tweet to go unnoticed and kept the jokes coming. "They broke the news early!" Medvedev replied, tagging Red Bull and their drivers, F1 world champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

After cracking jokes, Medvedev gave his respect to all the drivers and admitted it was a "tough" day on the track. In one video clip, while taking off his helmet he expresses how fatigued he is with a smile on his face.

The 25-year-old withdrew from the upcoming ATP 500 event in Rotterdam, and he's set to take the court again in Acapulco before traveling to Indian Wells and Miami. The fun day surrounded by friends seemed to lift his spirits, and perhaps will propel to get back to work soon with the World No.1 spot in reach.

He trails Novak Djokovic by only 890 points in the ATP rankings.
