Novak Djokovic crashes Aryna Sabalenka's Wimbledon press conference, jokingly tells her to up the 'intensity'

On Wednesday, Aryna Sabalenka returned to chat with Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk. The world No. 2 was understandably relaxed when she arrived for her interview after dominating Jelena Ostapenko, 6-2, 6-4, in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia quarterfinals.

“The first set went quite easily, so it gave me much more confidence going into the second set,” she shared in Rome.

Sabalenka is through to the final four at the Foro Italico for the second time in three years.

After answering a few questions, old habits got the best of Sabalenka. The slip up came when the two-time Australian Open champion responded to Amritraj’s inquiry about how her ‘day in the life’ videos came about.

“I just had the idea. I saw that people want to see it more often. Now it’s a goal in each city,” she began.

“So far people like it. As soon as people start saying like, ‘Stop it. We are tired of this bullsh--.’”

As soon as Sabalenka put the mic down and turned her head in disappointment, Amritraj broke out in fits of laughter.

“Again, it’s beep!” she said.

“Before the interview started, she promised no F-bombs, no cursing, no nothing!” exclaimed the host.

Owned Sabalenka, “It’s just something in my blood, cursing.”

Seeking her best result here, Sabalenka will take on Danielle Collins in a rematch of their Mutua Madrid Open fourth-rounder. In that contest, Sabalenka was on the cusp of going out before rallying to halt the American's 15-match win streak on her way to a runner-up finish.

“Danielle is in incredible shape and she’s been crushing it,” said the 26-year-old.

The 13th-seeded Collins took out Sabalenka’s countrywoman Victoria Azarenka, 6-4, 6-3, for her 19th win in 20 matches to complete the semifinal lineup. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek meets third-ranked Coco Gauff in the top half of the draw.

“It’s great for all of us, because it motivates us a lot to improve, to get better, be more consistent with the game, to get to the last stages of the tournament.”
