Wimbledon has proven a magical place for Petra Kvitova throughout her illustrious career, making the All England Club a perfect setting for the former world No. 2 to celebrate her engagement to longtime coach Jiri Vanek.

Kvitova shared the photo, taken during Wimbledon’s 100th anniversary celebration of Centre Court, on Instagram Tuesday.

“Happy news we wanted to share with you guys,” wrote the two-time Wimbledon winner. “I said ‘yes’ in my special place.”

Kvitova, 32, first hired Vanek as her coach at the end of 2016, and the two worked together as the Czech powerhouse recovered from the hand injury that resulted from a traumatic home invasion ahead of the following season.

She was previously engaged to Czech hockey player Radek Meidl, but the two split in mid-2016. Her romantic relationship with Vanek was made official in the spring of 2021, nearly five years into their professional partnership.

Kvitova is scheduled to make a 15th US Open main draw appearance following a revitalizing summer that included a title run in Eastbourne and a runner-up finish at the Western & Southern Open just last week—where she fell to a resurgent Caroline Garcia.
