Ajla Tomljanovic has plenty to celebrate despite a disappointing withdrawal from the Australian Open. From making a star turn in the highly-anticipated Netflix docuseries Break Point, the Aussie can now reveal an illuminating photoshoot with Vogue Australia that hits newsstands this month.

“Wow still can’t believe we actually did this @vogueaustralia,” Tomljanovic wrote on Instagram. “I remember shooting this and thinking I’ll believe it when I see it…Feeling incredibly grateful.”

The Croatian-born Aussie has been in the midst of a major surge that saw her reach back-to-back Grand Slam quarterfinals in 2022 and hand Serena Williams the final defeat of her career at the US Open.

Heading into her home Slam, Tomljanovic was set to be the highest-ranked Australian women competing in the women’s singles main draw.

“It’s been a very tough decision to make but I have to listen to my body,” she said following her shock announcement to withdraw from the first major tournament of 2023.

“It’s no secret that this is my favorite place to play so it hurts to miss out on a great opportunity to play in front of my home crowd and to be surrounded by the incredible love and atmosphere.”

Tomljanovic outlined no exact return date, opting to let her knee heal as much as possible before taking the court again.
