It’s been a good year for University of Texas standout Peyton Stearns, who not only helped win a National Championship for her Longhorns, but also defeated former world No. 9 Coco Vandeweghe in the first round of Indian Wells qualifying.

Stearns avenged a recent loss to the Southern Californian at the WTA 125K in Columbus, OH, 6-4, 7-5, setting up a meeting with fourth-seeded Aussie (who also played college tennis at Vanderbilt) Astra Sharma.
