After a 16-year Davis Cup title drought, Lucas Pouille managed to seal with a dominant 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 win over Steve Darcis on Sunday. The 3-2 victory over Belgium ended a three-final losing streak for France.

Pouille is ranked five spots shy of his career-high ranking at No. 18 and won three ATP titles in 2017. He wrapped up his regular season with a loss to eventual champion Jack Sock in Paris.

The Frenchman didn't start the weekend off very strong in Lille. He lost his first Davis Cup final match in straight sets against David Goffin on Friday, but managed to bounce back and win the decisive fifth match. It was the 23-year-old fifth time appearing in a Davis Cup tie.

With 10 titles, France is now tied with Great Britain for the most Davis Cup wins.

The last time France won was back in 2001. Pouille officially goes down in history as a Davis Cup hero.
