At the $100,000 ATP Challenger in San Francisco, Vasek Pospisil needed to dig deep to break the serve of 6"11" Reilly Opelka in the final game. Luckily, the Canadian’s scrambling effort would get him into the quarterfinals with a 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3 win.

Pospisil is recovering from a shocking Davis Cup ending in Ottawa last weekend (where his teammate Denis Shapovalov was disqualified for hitting the umpire, sending Great Britain into the quarters).

Next, Pospisil will face yet another rising young American talent in top seeded Frances Tiafoe.
