“This is so strange!” Muguruza tells Amitraj on VIP Tennis Lounge. “Normally you’re interviewing me!”

“(When) you’re recently retired, you’re so used to training all day and being geared toward something for so long,” he told host Muguruza, who herself retired last year. Known as a 'skinny guy' during his playing days and prone to injury, Amitraj took to weight training after his 2012 retirement.

“When you leave, I feel like I needed some sort of physical discipline as mediation to keep me sane,” he explained. “I couldn’t really lift when I played, because I had to be more flexible. And, you know, I’m doing a bunch of stuff in movies and TV, so I said, this is a great fit—and I sunk into the bodybuilding world.”

One of the biggest personalities in tennis, Amitraj’s muscular physique and eye-catching style sets him apart from players and even fellow TV presenters, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It always feels good to stand out, but at the same time stay true. You don’t want to copy someone else,” Amitraj said. “If it feels honest to you and you stand out, I think that’s the meeting point.”
