PARIS, France — Good friends and frequent practice partners Mirra Andreeva and Daria Kasatkina are set to face off on Monday for a spot in the Roland Garros quarterfinals.

Before their on-court clash, the pair shared some lighter moments behind-the-scenes of a recent episode of the No. 17 seed’s popular YouTube series, What The Vlog.

Filmed and edited with her girlfriend Natalia Zabiiako, a former figure skater, the channel offers a candid look at life on the WTA Tour—from travel mishaps to heart-wrenching moments. It also features Kasatkina in conversation with her peers, scoring interviews with Victoria Azarenka, Andrey Rublev and more.

When Andreeva was asked to analyze their upcoming fourth-round match—a repeat of their Ningbo final last year, won by Kasatkina—the Russian was diplomatic with her praise, saying that “it's going to be fun and also maybe pretty tight.”

But when asked to rate Kasatkina’s skills as an interviewer, the 18-year-old gave a hilariously blunt assessment:

“I think she can improve!” Andreeva said with a cheeky grin, speaking to press after her straight-sets win over No. 32 seed Yulia Putintseva on Saturday.

Kasatkina, who was born in Russia and now represents Australia, wasn't about to let that slide.

"She is not the one to talk," Kasatkina joked, laughing as she fired back in our Tennis.com Quote du Jour:

I wish her good luck, especially in editing. I want to see how she going to do that… Kasatkina on Andreeva's vlogging skills

Q. (Andreeva) said that you all have practiced already in the tournament here, and she was also asked what she thought of your interviewing skills… She was not impressed. Any response?

DARIA KASATKINA: I was right. I hate her! (laughing)

Well, she is not the one to talk about it because actually she had opportunity to interview players in our Rome vlog. She took the camera, and went to talk with someone in the restaurant… It was terrible, okay? (laughing)

Also, the filming skills were not on point, so she needs to learn… I wish her good luck, especially in editing. I want to see how she going to do that…

Yeah, but I think I have to improve my interviewing skills, so it's okay. I will work on it (smiling).

If it wasn't already clear, Kasatkina made sure to emphasize that the playful jabs were all in good fun.

“This is the way we communicate with Mirra... We're just giving little shit to each other all the time and just joking around,” she said. “We are very good with each other. We were having (an) ice bath together right now a couple of hours ago after the match.”

After making her vlogging debut, Andreeva seems to be testing the waters as a content creator herself, too. Earlier this week, she flipped the script on Tennis Channel host Prakash Amritraj, showing up on set armed with a DJI Osmo Pocket camera—and plenty of questions.

“I just want to ask, how many kilos do you do for your bicep curls? And how many reps?” she asked.

Caught off guard, Amritraj laughed: “I’m not used to this… It’s usually the other way around!”
