Dunlop SX Range

It’s time to join the Spin Generation.

That’s the tagline for Dunlop’s updated SX line. Indeed, the “S” in the franchise’s label represents their racquets built for spin. While the previous iteration was quite proficient at putting work on the ball, three new innovations to the five premium performance frames in the 2022 edition are intended to raise RPMs and player confidence to another level.

The first is Spin Boost+ Grommets. An expansion of the technology from the prior generation, the refined shaped grommets allow more string movement in the direction of the arrows shown on the racquet. The grommets are located on the 12 main strings through the top section of the hoop, which is two more than the old series. The added and varied string movement creates more bite on the ball, a softer string bed and larger sweet spot. It also promotes a higher launch angle on shots contacted in the lower portion of the racquet face, for better depth on off-center hits.

This works in tandem with the Spin Boost String Tech. The main and cross strings are 10% and 11% wider respectively, making the entire string grid area 22% larger. This new spacing promotes better spin production while also extending the sweet spot to the top of the racquet for a more even, and advantageous, power distribution. Yet, the grid area in the center of the racquet has been shrunk by 7% to foster better control.

The third new element is the V-Energy Shaft. As the name indicates, it’s a unique, V-shape geometry in the shaft, intended to bolster frame stability. The increased composure at contact promotes a more consistent response, as well as added power.

The final key component is Sonic Core made with Infinergy. First seen in the CX series, the super elastic material is positioned at 2 and 10 o’clock on the frame to provide energy transfer into the shot—a 46% increase in rebound height over the original Sonic Core. Additionally, the material has impressive dampening and vibration reducing properties.
