Rafael Nadal may be getting older, but it's hard to tell when he hits the terre battue—or any court for that matter. After securing a 6-0, 7-5, 6-2 win over Frenchman Richard Gasquet in his first night match at Roland Garros, he was in for quite a surprise. Due to on-going pandemic curfews in Paris, there are no fans in the stands at night, but he felt the love when he walked into his hotel room to find gifts and a birthday cake waiting for him.

A small light-up sign read "Joyeux anniversaire," or happy birthday, and a cake topped with whipped cream and berries sat beside it. Nadal gave fans a glimpse of his low-key celebration, sharing a video of the surprise he walked into at the hotel and a photo of his birthday cake.

The now 35-year-old thanked fans for all the messages and is missing his traditional birthday dinner at the InterContinental Paris LeGrand, which is currently closed due to the pandemic but set to re-open on June 9.

"I'm not celebrating my birthday, 35 is not good. I want to be 25 again," a smiling Nadal told press.

He may be 35 years old, but age isn't stopping him from dominating in Paris. Nadal will get in a practice session on Friday ahead of his third-round match with Cameron Norrie on Saturday.

He has squared off with the 25-year-old twice this season and has yet to give up a single set. He first beat Norrie at the Australian Open and repeated the feat on clay in Barcelona en route to winning his 12th title at the ATP 500 event.
