If you were Roger Federer, where would you go for burgers in New York City?

It’s a question fans attempted to answer in the comments of his Instagram in the lead-up to the 2023 Met Gala, where the 20-time Grand Slam champion will serve as co-chair.

Checking in with his first New York-tagged post of the week, Federer shares a pair of silly shots, burger in hand, but neglected to note just where he’d procured his quarter-pounder.

Two theories quickly emerged, but neither proved conclusive. Had he gone to the Red Hook Tavern in Brooklyn? One fan insisted he’d been in the southern borough earlier this week, and the floral-themed artwork sure looks similar to what is seen in the restaurant’s Michelin Guide entry.

Others thought the former world No. 1 was on the Upper East Side, near the Metropolitan Museum of Art where the eponymous Met Gala is held.

“Definitely JG Melon,” posits one user. “I recognize those fries/burger anywhere. The best in NYC!”

(JG Melon is indeed known for their cottage fries).

Has the jury reached a verdict? And, more importantly, where does Roger go for pizza?
