Following on the heels of Rafael Nadal's congratulatory social media message, the final member of the Big 3 weighed in on Novak Djokovic's record-setting 23rd Grand Slam title as Roger Federer hailed his former rival's "incredible" achievement.

“Honestly it’s great for sports when tennis writes its own history and keeps on adding to it, like we’ve seen with Serena Williams, Rafa, myself and now with Novak," he said, per a report by The Daily Express. "It’s a great time to be a fan but also a player.

“I remember when I came on tour, Pete Sampras reached 14. We thought that one was going to stay forever, then I went to 15 and we pushed each other to 20. Rafa pushed it to 22 and now Novak has pushed it to 23.

“It looks like Novak is going to keep on doing that for a long time still to come, which is great. I wish him all the best. Also the way he’s doing it, he’s not the youngest any more. We forget that. He looks young and he does it in such a young way, but it’s not easy. I thought it was an amazing victory, I couldn’t have been more happy for him.”

Federer made the remarks this week while in Greenwich, an area of the city of the London, where he was on hand for the unveiling of refurbished tennis courts at a public park.

The courts, located at Bostall Gardens park, were refurbished as part of Federer's Neon Legacy partnership with Mercedes-Benz, which aims to inspire the next generation of tennis players. Part of a broader investment in revitalizing public tennis courts by the U.K. government and the Lawn Tennis Association, the courts were painted by the German street art duo Low Bros.

Federer also participated in a tennis clinic with local children at the unveiling.

“It makes me really happy to be here in London where I have such great memories over the years - Olympics, O2 Arena and then as well at Wimbledon," Federer said. "This court is one of the most beautiful in the world and I’m so happy to give it back to the community. Tennis is such a great sport for everybody getting together and seeing each other and just hanging out as well at the court.

"I really hope this place is going to be a place where people love to come, the community, the neighbors, and just have the best times and create memories for a lifetime.”
