September 20 2025 - Federer Curry 2bwide

They both transformed their sports, so it was only fitting that when Roger Federer came to Steph Curry's arena, the two game-changers got together.

On Saturday night—on a different kind of court than Curry traditionally walks onto at the Chase Center—the two legends emerged to resounding applause. Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, and Curry, the four-time NBA champion and three-point savant, took part in the coin toss prior to the evening's first night match between Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz.

It didn't take long for all of Teams Europe and World to join, for a photo-op with one of the greatest to play on a hardcourt, and one of the greatest to play on hardwood:

It's not the first time Curry and tennis been in the same conversation. Iga Swiatek came to a Golden State Warriors game earlier this year, prior to the BNP Paribas Open.

"Watching Steph live was amazing, and, for sure, you can see the skills straightaway," Swiatek told reporters at Indian Wells. "I also thought about how it is for him when everybody just expects from him to have these three-point shots. I really, really respect how he manages that."

Federer, who played his last-ever match at Laver Cup, has regularly mentioned basketball as one of his followings.

The two exchanged gifts, with Federer gifting Curry a tennis racquet inscribed, "Keep inspiring. Much respect." Federer took home a special bottle or bourbon with a "Welcome to the Bay!!" note from Curry.
