Serena Williams may have pulled out of this week's Madrid Open, but she's seeing sunny returns with her many talk-show appearances. As she makes the tried-and-true rounds in the media world, one of her most recent showings came on The View's venerable morning program.

Centrally situated among co-hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan McCain and more, Williams fielded queries about daughter Alexis Olympia, Jr., her return to the professional tour and more.

"As much as I love this life and love being at home, I still feel like there's more for me to do out there," Williams told the squad to in-studio applause. "It's not quite done yet. There's a little more to write to my story, and what it is, I don't know."

One question sent Williams down a path of extrapolating about body types and opening up about the body-shaming she has received since entering the public eye. "It took me years" she said, to overcome that negative response and find satisfaction and self-love in her physique.

"Looking at my daughter, and then looking at my mom, how she went through the negative of myself and my body, I don't know how she did it," Williams added. "If anyone were to say anything about Olympia, I'd take my tennis racquet and say, 'Let's talk now! Say it again!'"

Perhaps better a tennis racquet than, say, an ax. Still, the clarion word is out to Williams' detractors: Come for Olympia's mom at your own risk.
