In a deft, timely bit of product placement, Serena Williams wowed onlookers by claiming her 23rd major singles title at the Australian Open—and then promptly slipping into a brand-new pair of Air Jordan sneakers.

After besting big sister Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4, Serena did one of many things she does best: She pitched. So much emotion and history enshrouded her championship match against Venus, but this sponsorship coup on the part of Nike served to bring some levity to the proceedings, not that the Haus of Williams wasn't already all aglow.

Michael Jordan's patented "Jumpman" logo and Serena's own "SW" logo are both emblazoned on the kicks—versions of which Serena has been rocking since 2004 after she joined Team Nike. Red-and-black and pink-and-black versions of the "SW1" treads are now available in the United States, Japan and Western Europe, with further rollouts expected globally.

The scary part for Serena's rivals: The shoes feature a decidedly unfinished detail, a reference to the fact that, though she's now the most decorated major singles winner in women's tennis in the Open era, she's not done yet. Memo to 2017: Watch yourself.
