It's been a hot minute since the last tennis film hit the big screens. As a matter of fact it was back in 2017, when Emma Stone portrayed Billie Jean King in "Battle of the Sexes." Despite the film's glowing reviews, it didn't perform so well at the box office, only grossing $18.6 million against a $25 million budget. However, "King Richard" will look to redeem the game of tennis on the silver screen come November.

The film is a biographical drama based on Richard Williams—the father of major champions Serena and Venus. It follows Richard's journey of raising two of the most extraordinary athletes of all time, who go on to create change and impact the sport forever. With tremendous obstacles in the way, Richard is determined to take his two daughters from Compton to global icons.

Five-time Golden Globe Awards and two-time Academy Awards nominee, Will Smith will play the title role of Richard. On Thursday, Smith sat alongside Serena and Venus to show fans the all-new "King Richard" trailer which features 28-time Grammy winner Beyonce's latest song, "Be Alive."

"I’m SO excited for you to watch the new trailer for #KingRichard starring Will Smith and featuring the song 'Be Alive' by Beyonce. It’s in theaters and streaming exclusively on HBO Max on November 19," Serena wrote on Twitter.

The new preview is overwhelmingly emotional and gives audiences a glimpse into the challenges Richard and his family had to endure in order to achieve greatness.

Both Serena and Venus currently are recovering from nagging injuries, and haven't competed in months with no updates on if they will play again this season.
