Serena Williams visits Walt Disney World with family
Published May 03, 2021
It's not always business with Serena Williams, although it may seem that way if you've ever visited the entire room in her home dedicated to her 73 WTA trophies.
When the 23-time Grand Slam champion isn't out on the court, she taps into her fun side with the help of Walt Disney World.
"You can't beat Disney World, it's just the best place to come—you can be a kid—you can be yourself—you can just have an amazing time and you get to meet princesses," Serena said on a visit to the Parks in 2016.
Over the weekend, Serena took a break in her clay-court training to visit Disney World in Orlando with her daughter Olympia and husband Alexis. During her visit she made time to share some of her favorite rides, Disney characters and treats she likes to snack on at the Park in a one-minute video with Disney.
Give me three words to describe how you're feeling?
I'm excited, happy and a little bit anxious.
Which Walt Disney World theme park is your favorite?
Which Walt Disney World attraction is your favorite?
My favorite attraction is the Flight of Passage.
Tell me, what's your favorite Met Gala memory?
The one I hosted of course, with the cape! I love superheroes and I love capes.
What is your go-to Disney karaoke song?
A Whole New World.
If you could only pick one, a Dole whip or a Mickey ice cream bar?
Mickey ice cream bar.
Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain?
Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck?
What is the first thing you're going to do here at the Magic Kingdom?
I'm going to have the time of my life!
Serena didn't post any photos of the magical day on Instagram, but Alexis shared a family photo on the "Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run," which is a Star Wars themed-ride at the resort.
What's next for Serena? The 39-year-old hasn't competed since February's Australian Open and pulled out of the 1000-level event in Miami due to pain from an oral surgery she had just before the tournament commenced. When and where she will make her clay-court debut is also uncertain, but just a few days ago, coach Patrick Mouratoglou mentioned that he expects her to play Rome ahead of Roland Garros.
