Serena Williams made her first Grand Slam appearance as a mother at Roland Garros on Tuesday. For the special occasion, she chose a unique outfit: a full-length black bodysuit with a pink stripe.

"All the moms out there that had a tough pregnancy and have to come back and try to be fierce, in the middle of everything," she said. "That's what this represents. You can't beat a cat suit, right?"

Williams, who won her 23rd major at the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant, is trying to win her first Slam with her daughter, Alexis Olympia Jr., in tow.

Williams had her hands full with her first-round opponent, Kristyna Pliskova. Both are huge servers, but Pliskova leads the WTA tour with the record for most aces in a match (31). The Czech relies heavily on her serve, hitting 15 aces to Williams' 13.

Despite the stiff challenge, Williams prevailed 7-6 (4), 6-4.

"If I didn’t miss it, I wouldn’t be out here," Williams said. "It's such a pleasure to be able to play. After everything I went through, to be able to come back and just step out on the court—winning is just even more of a bonus."

Williams' improved game got a lot of attention, but not as much as her body suit:
