There’s something to be said about letting one’s racquet do the talking first.

Coco Gauff did just that in her Australian Open quarterfinal win over Marta Kostyuk, before reacting to one of the viral—and strange—moments of the tournament.

After navigating her way through a scrappy 7-6 (6), 6-7 (3), 6-2 victory Tuesday, Gauff, like she often does, shared content on her social media accounts.

On her Instagram story, the US Open champion reposted a video of her match point moment from the tournament’s account with the caption “shakey shake” accompanied by red heart and tears of joy emojis.

The choice in question.

The choice in question.

What was Gauff referencing? Perhaps a notable accessory in the stands.

Kostyuk’s husband Heorhii supported his spouse from her player box by sporting a baseball cap with a questionable phrase. “Shake your Cocos” it read with a pair of coconuts.

While some X (formerly Twitter) users were left shaking their heads in disbelief, it was Gauff who ultimately shook off a testing day at the office to reach her third major singles semifinal.

Kostyuk meanwhile, saw her best Grand Slam showing come to an end after failing to capitalize on a 5-1 lead in the opening set.
