Sharapova returns with a win, nose strip and new dress
Published Jun 18, 2019
After four long months away, Maria Sharapova made her return to competition on Tuesday. The Russian beat Viktoria Kuzmova, 7-6 (8), 6-0 at the Mallorca Open.
As usual, fans were excited to see what she would wear.
And as usual, she didn't disappoint in a new asymmetrical black and blue Nike dress—which also comes in a Wimbledon-friendly white.
The 32-year-old added one rather unusual accessory for her return, a nose strip.
It's the former world No. 1's first win since beating Daria Gavrilova in St. Petersburg in January, and her first win on grass since reaching the Wimbledon semifinals in 2015. She'll play top seed Angelique Kerber next.
