Zverev RNA Academy

As Alexander Zverev looks to get back in the right place mentally, the two-time Grand Slam finalist is shaking up his preparation for the upcoming North American hard-court swing.

On Monday, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy uploaded a series of Instagram video stories showcasing Zverev hitting at their flagship campus in Mallorca. Toni Nadal was notably on the court with the German in clips from the session.

Zverev is coming off a five-set, first-round loss to Arthur Rinderknech at Wimbledon. During his post-match press conference, he opened up about feeling alone while struggling to dig himself out of a hole.

When asked whether the addition of a new coach was of consideration to assist with the situation, Zverev responded, “Possibly. As I said, it's a different feeling right now for me. I can't speak for the moment. But I think I'll have answers by Canada.”

Despite the early departure in London, Zverev still stands at No. 4 in the race to the Nitto ATP Finals. The 28-year-old, this year’s Australian Open runner-up to Jannik Sinner, was originally slated to compete at the ATP 250 clay event in Kitzbuhel this week.

“I've never felt this empty before. Just lacking joy, just lacking joy in everything that I do. It's not necessarily about tennis. Just lacking joy outside of tennis, as well,” shared the world No. 3 following his Wimbledon exit.

Neither Zverev nor Nadal have addressed whether a new partnership is underway—or if the Spaniard is simply consulting at this training bloc. The 64-year-old, who helped guide nephew Rafael Nadal to 16 of his 22 major titles, most recently worked with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Among the highlights during Uncle Toni’s tenure as a member of the Canadian’s team from 2021-2024 was a banner 2022 season. That year, Auger-Aliassime won a maiden ATP title, climbed to a career-high No. 6 and led his nation to an inaugural Davis Cup title.

Zverev's next scheduled tournament is the ATP Masters 1000 event in Toronto, which begins July 27.
