World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty has become the first woman to record 40 tour-level wins this year, reaching the milestone on Sunday afternoon with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Swiss lefty Jil Teichmann in the final of the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.

Barty is now 40-7 on the year with five WTA titles, having already won Wimbledon, another WTA 1000 in Miami and two WTA 500s in Melbourne and Stuttgart.
