MATCH POINT: C. Alcaraz def. M. Berrettini; Rio QF

Carlos Alcaraz continued to show why he’s one of the most dangerous names in the sport right now in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, taking out Matteo Berrettini in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 clay-court event, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

Since starting off 0-3 against them, Alcaraz’s win over the No. 6-ranked Berrettini was his fourth win in his last six meetings against Top 10 players.

Alcaraz’s win over the Italian put him through to the equal-biggest semifinal of his career—he also reached the semifinals of the ATP 500 event in Vienna last fall.

Should he beat Fabio Fognini in Saturday night’s semifinals in Rio, the 18-year-old Spaniard will move through to the biggest final of his career.
