Last week, Gael Monfils showed signs that he's finding his very best tennis again, winning back-to-back matches for the first time since the restart to reach the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 event in Toronto. And this week he’s done it again, winning back-to-back matches to reach the third round in Cincinnati.

But there was something even more meaningful to his 6-3, 7-5 victory over No. 18-ranked Alex de Minaur on Wednesday—it was his 500th career tour-level win.

Monfils is the 11th active men’s player to cross that milestone.

“I feel great. Obviously I’m happy to get the 500th win under my belt,” Monfils told ATPTour.com. “It’s a great achievement and I’m very proud.”
